Blue Sky (Ground) Blizzard

Ground Blizzard:  Okay, so I guess you expect some blowing snow in South Dakota in January.  What was different on this January day in 2010 is that it snowed last night, and the highways in all directions around us were closed today because of blowing snow, making this a non-travel blog -- but at our place, the sky was clear blue.

Mind you, the wind was howling, and it drifted the driveway plumb shut with a full-length 3-foot deep drift.  But the sun shone here all day, and with the exception of the billowing snow that re-filled the air with every 50 mph gust, the sky was blue.   And it was colder than blue blazes. Here are a few shots that show a little of what kind of day we had -- a predominantly indoor day.
