Pink Winter Dawn, January 11, 2010

Sunrise: I saw something this morning I'm not accustomed to seeing -- sunrise. Our pet cat, Leesha, and me -- we're not what you'd call morning people.  But this morning we had to head to town early, and I was looking out the window of our home office when I saw a brilliant and uncharacteristically immense contrail blazing across the sky over the pine-covered ridge across the fairway from the house.  So I hopped outside in bare feet and took a few shots -- the bare feet thing is only germane because it was still about 10 degrees above zero.  Oh well, no sacrifice too great for art, as Vincent Van Gogh may have once said -- or at least thought out loud, one presumes.

It's amazing what the light does this early in the morning.  I might have to try to get up again at sunrise sometime before spring!
